How Do You Get a Visa
Apply for a visa to a diplomatic service – the embassy or the consulate of the Russian Federation – in your country. You can check the nearest consulate at the Russian Consulate Locator. Ensure you apply for the right type of visa (Student – for long-term and short-term study courses; Business – for teaching and training) and prepare the documents. You will have to submit:
• your passport;
• completed and signed application form;
• invitation (provided by our university);
• biometric data (if not stated otherwise);
• medical insurance (if not stated otherwise);
• statement of visa fee payment;
• HIV test results (if not stated otherwise);
• other required documents.
Passport validity. Note that your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months after the expiry date of your visa.
Visa processing times vary depending on demand, so you should apply for your visa well in advance.
On receiving your visa your should check the details of the visa including the validity dates and passport number carefullly to ensure they are correct. Before you travel to Russia make sure you are aware of the terms and conditions attached to your visa, for entry, stay and exit. The length of your stay can be prolonged with the Federal Migration Service here, in Russia. You will be informed on details on arrival.
