In its activity, the department also focuses on practitioners of pathology in the Penza Region through offering the lifelong learning programmes.
The teaching staff of the department is engaged in research and development. Their research interests lie in morphology, application of xeno-materials, morphological changes in artery walls and morphometry of connective tissue components. The department is represented at the scientific events of various levels.
The research practices are shared with the students, medical residents and postgraduate students by means of the research team “Clinical Morphology, Forensic Medicine and Medical Law”. Currently, its members focus on the following topics: epidemiology of medical errors, morphological changes in animal organs under the influence of various drugs, possibilities of Fourier spectroscopy for determining the time of death in case of putrefactive changes, formation and development of anatomical pathology and forensic medicine. They conduct theoretical and applied studies and work with macro- and micropreparations prior to delivering presentations and designing topic-oriented roll-ups.
