Impressions of project activity participants
“I always take the opportunity to learn something new. A new module delivered by two talented teachers, Aleksandrova A.V. and Ryzhova A.A., certainly helped me in this. Thanks to their teaching, I easily figured out the mechanism for implementing the competence of the European Union in the social sphere. Together with my classmates, I successfully defended a paper on the social policy of the European Union. At that we used not only the materials of the lectures, but also the statistics by Eurostat and legal documents, for example, the Treaty establishing the European Union. Now I am thinking about what topic to choose for writing a bachelor's and then a master’s dissertation, as well as about what branch of law I want to identify with. I am sure that the acquired knowledge and skills will be useful in my life”.

“As I see it, social security issues are not given the most significant place in the legal system. Therefore, when I learned about the launch of a new module “Social Security Law in the European Union”, I immediately submitted the application to join it. For me it was interesting to explore the sources of European Union social security law from the viewpoint of the Russian context. I took great interest so that I conducted a comparative legal analysis of the social security systems in Sweden and Russia and created a project based on the materials found. The study of all these aspects opened up new horizons for my further academic, scientific and professional activity”.

“The Institute of Law at PSU offers numerous opportunities for research. Many scientific teams and groups are constantly functioning, as well as scientific journals and proceedings are regularly published. This helps students to accomplish significant results in the scientific area. One of these groups was the research group on European social law led by Anna Viktorovna Aleksandrova, who is also the manager of the EUSOSEL project. I joined this group from the moment of its formation, because I am interested in legal regulation of the social sphere. Almost every month there were discussions that prompted me to launch a project on the legal regulation of youth employment in Greece. This topic deserves further consideration. I plan to conduct a comparative legal analysis and present its results at one of the conferences at PSU or another university.”

“Thanks to my supervisor and teacher of the Department of State and Legal Disciplines A.V. Alexandrova, I joined the research group on EU social law. Since the beginning of the coronavirus infection (COVID-19) pandemic, I have become interested in issues of social support for the population. I shared my ideas and findings with students and teachers who are also members of this research group. Taking into account the recommendations of the supervisor and the comments of the members of the research group, I prepared a scientific article for the journal “Bulletin of the Penza State University”. My article, which touches upon the legislative practices of Germany in providing social support to the population in a pandemic, was accepted for publication. I do not plan to stop there, as there are a lot of topics worthy exploring.”

“When I entered Penza State University, I set myself the goal of carefully studying the legislation of Russia and other countries involved in solving social problems. I heartily attend classes and actively participate in various scientific and humanitarian activities of the university. One of these events was the conference “New Image of Social Law: Practices in the Russian Federation and the European Union” organised at the Department of State and Legal Disciplines. Together with a friend, I prepared a report on the topic “Reforming pension legislation: practices of the member states of the European Union”, as I believe that studying foreign experience is useful for improving Russian legislation, which also has its strengths.”
