Title: Social support for youth in the EU: legal aspects
Abstract. The article is aimed at studying the main practices used both at the level of the European Union as a supranational association, and at the level of individual European countries for the purpose of supporting youth. The significance of these measures is due, on the one hand, to demographic distortions in modern Europe (population aging, declining birth rates), and on the other hand, the vulnerability of young people in such areas as employment, housing, etc. In this regard, the article draws special attention to measures of preventing unemployment among young people, expanding vocational training and advanced training programmes, means of social adaptation of disabled people and measures of preventing poverty and social exclusion among young people. It also identifies the European practices that may be useful for the Russian social and economic policy towards youth.
Key words: the European Union, young people, social support, social adaptation.
