SMALLER OLYMPICS AT PSU

14th October. Eight mixed-nationality teams with contestants from 16 countries competed at Smaller Olympic Games. The participants were international and local students from Penza State University and the Institute of Artillery and Engineering. Smaller Olympics sports included: track-and-field events (long jump, relay race, hundred metre race, shot put), streetball, futsal, table tennis, chess. The games were presided by a professional referee team.

According to Olympic medals count, 1st place was awarded to the Russian sports team, 2nd place – to the sports team of Cuba and Nicaragua, 3rd place – to African sports team. All winners, in individual and team events, were awarded with medals, certificates and trophies.

   

The games were held in friendly and supportive atmosphere. Both the athletes and the fans could restore their strength at food kiosks that offered tasty buckwheat porridge with meat.

As their serious counterparts, the Smaller Olympics also included opening, awards and closing ceremonies, singers’ performances and the meaningful symbol of the games – Olympic Flame.
