Information and Resource Centre of the Institute of International Cooperation, Penza State University, hosted a food contest where foreign students of Penza State University presented their national cuisine. More than 40 students took part in the event.

The event was organized by the group of foreign students and supported by the Institute of International Cooperation, Penza State University. Six dishes from different countries (Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, China, Iraq, and Turkey) competed in the contest.

Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Iraq cooked dainty pilaf but the three versions had absolutely different taste, the only common thing was rice. For example, Iraqi pilaf “Biryani” included pistachio nuts, raisins and chicken fillet, which added a special oriental flavor. China presented a chicken stick with sesame dish “Kolakliv”. Turkmenistan cooked a meat pie “Ishlekli”. The Turkish students treated everyone with sweets: locum, baklava, nougat.

Vice-Rector for International Affairs Yuri Mazei and foreign and Russian students of PSU tasted the dishes and took part in secret vote for the best dish. The experts found it hard to choose the best dish because all of them were very rich and delicious. The students also presented their national dances.

As a result of the voting the winner was Azerbaijani pilaf which was made by Orkhan, Gusein and Firuza Novruzovs. Turkmenistan pie and Tajikistan pilaf were the second and the third.
Congratulations!
