The PSU hosted the II Interuniversity Cricket Tournament among foreign students

 12-17 April, 2016 the II Interuniversity a Cricket Tournament among foreign students took place on the sports centre "Trud" of the Penza State University.

The organizer of the Tournament were Association of Indian students (PSU), supported by the International Education Office, the Institute of Sport and Physical Training (PSU) and the Association of Foreign Students of the Penza region.

The tournament was opened with a competitors’ parade, the Association foreign students showed the participants dance flash mob “From the Volga to the Yenisei River”. Sergei Vasin, the Vice-Rector of PSU for international Affairs, greeted the participants of the tournament on behalf the rector A. Gulyakov, and wished the players good game and wins. In turn, Yuvrash Solanki, the Chairman of the Association of Indian students of PSU, thanked the Rector’s Office  for encouragement and possibility of holding a Cricket Tournament and also conveyed to the Rector a memento — a unique bat for cricket.

“The purpose of the Tournament was promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the development of sports skills, building positive interethnic interaction among foreign students to enhance their social adaptation to living and learning in our University”,- commented Sergei Vasin, the Vice-Rector of PSU for international Affairs.

In the Tournament took part 13 foreign students teams from 5 Russian cities: Voronezh, Kursk, Moscow, Saratov and Penza. The sporting event was attended by over 200 people. Also for the first time in the Tournament took part 3 women's team.

4 commands left in the semi-finals: they were from Saratov, Kursk and two teams from the Penza State University. According to the results of the semi-final games the team of Penza State University and one of Saratov State Medical Razumovsky University left in the finals. The final game was very exciting, throughout the game leadership was for Penza team, but the last roll of the "bowler" from Penza was beaten back by the "batsman" from Saratov team earning 6 points.

So "Strikers" from Saratov State Medical Razumovsky University became champions of the II Interuniversity Cricket Tournament among foreign students team. The second place went to the team of "Ferocious falcons" of Penza State University.
