On May 5, 2017 the event dedicated to the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held for international students of preparatory courses and for Bachelor students. The tutors of preparatory courses groups and Bachelor students in Linguistics T. Kolyuzhko, Ye. Peskova, A. Borovaya  and international students (groups M-1 and M-2) arranged and hosted this event.

The presentations on the decisive battles of the war (the Battle of Stalingrad, the Battle of Kursk, the Battle of Moscow) were featured for the students. They also had an opportunity to learn about the participation of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan during the Great Patriotic War (the reports were delivered by Aziza Khodzhamuradova and Muzaffar Kholmatov). Moreover the lecturers shared war stories of their grandparents.

The students (Umit Khayydov and Dzhakhan Dzhorayeva) danced a military waltz. An extract from the poem “Vasily Tyorkin” by Aleksandr T. Tvardovsky was arranged for the stage by Dovlet Yangiyev, Aziza Khodzhamuradova, Sunnet Khemrayev, Soltanmyrat Mamiyev, Merdan Dzhumayev. Fayzullo Yusupov performed a song about war, while Sabina Dzhumabayeva recited the poem “Remember!” by Robert Iv. Rozhdestvensky. Finally, all the present sang the widely known song “Katyusha” in chorus.

On the eve of Victory Day international students visited the drama theatre, where the musical performance about war and love “The Sevastopol waltz” was presented.

“The heart-melting love story and human tragedies during the war touched the feelings of students from India who virtually had no notion of the Great Patriotic War in 1941 – 1945. They learnt how fierce the battles for Sevastopol were. They could understand how Soviet people regardless of their age fought against fascism. Not for fame, but for peace!” the department lecturers emphasised.
