City Day and Russia Day were celebrated in Penza on Monday, 12th of June, by all the citizens and guests of our city. Main celebrations took place on Yubileinaya Square. International students from 45 countries of the world took part in celebrating City Day and Russia Day.

International students’ parade was a symbolic finish of the cultural marathon “Around the world in two semesters”. Its idea is that international students acquaint Russian students and other international students, as well as University staff, with the culture, traditions and customs of their own countries, which contributes to strengthening international cooperation and friendship between countries. The main goal of the project is to form tolerant relationships between students, while the marathon was aimed at socializing international students in higher educational institutions of Russia and forming their social activity among Penza youth.

The celebration was attended by honorary guests: I.A. Belozertsev, Penza Region governor; V.K. Lidin, Chairman of the Penza Region Legislative Assembly; V.N. Kuvaitsev, Head of Penza Administration; V.P. Savelyev, Head of Penza City.

“We will create worthy conditions for our citizens’ lives, and we should do everything for our region to become one of the best in the Russian Federation”, I.A.  Belozertsev congratulated all the celebration guests.

Flags and national costumes of the international students created a special mood of the holiday. The international students’ group was greeted by citizens  who watched Indian and Turkmenistan national dances.

“I am very happy to participate in the international students’ parade, it’s a great honour for me to carry the flag of my country. I want to be invited to such events next year. Thank you, PSU!”, shared her impressions Abdelkhamid Aya Yasser, a second year student from Egypt.

At the end of the event S.M. Vasin, Vice-Rector for international affairs, thanked the international students and wished them success with their exams.
