PSU rose by 43 points among Russian HEIs and by 1400 points among worldwide uiversities in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

Webometrics Ranking of World Universities published results of the new web-ranking of the world educational establishments.

PSU has made a considerable progress among the universities of the Russian Federation and got ahead of such leading HEIs, as Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, North-Eastern Federal University.

Penza State University has grown by 43 positions among the universities of the Russian Federation and by 1400 positions in the world ranking.

So PSU occupies 53d and 3403d places respectively. (In July, 2016, it had 96th and 4787th places, in January, 2017, it had 67th  and 3879d places).

As before, Moscow State University (215 th place in the world ranking), Saint Petersburg State University (482th place) and Novosibirsk State University (555th place) are recognized leaders among the universities of the Russian Federation. The first line of the rating was occupied by Harvard University.

The methodology of the ranking is based on four criteria, each of which evaluates the success of the university according to its position in the Internet and has a particular weight coefficient:

“VISIBILITY” analyzed the number of back links to the university domain and the quality of this sources (weight is 50%);

“PRESENCE” takes into account the total number of web pages located on the university domain indextied by Google (weight is 5%);

“EXCELLENCE” evaluates the number of scientific publications of the university which are in 10% most cited works of the corresponding research area over the last 5 years (weight is 35%).

“OPENNESS” analyzed the number of back links to the most cited university scientists  (weight is 10 %).
