V International Congress Flensburg – Penza held in PSU

On September 13th, 2017 the opening ceremony of the anniversary scientific and practical forum took place in Penza State University.

Penza hosts the event for the third time. We remind that the VI Congress was held in Flensburg, Germany in 2016.

Aleksandr D. Guliakov, Rector of PSU, opened the plenary session and presented his speech in the German language as a mark of respect for the delegation from Germany. “We are pleased that Flensburg – Penza Congress has become a tradition. Today we meet for the fifth time. We cordially welcome the participants of the congress in Penza Region,” Aleksandr D. Guliakov emphasised.

The history of partnership between Penza and Flensburg counts more than 10 years. Our cooperation is expanding and strengthening year by year.

“For 10 years our friendship has grown into strong partnership. Our close relations serve as a real contribution to consolidating cooperation between our countries, ” Svetlana Krechmar, President of Flensburg, stressed in her welcoming speech.

Peter Lorenzen, founder and head of Flensburg Penza Friendship Society, thanked Penza State University and Penza Region Government for the invitation to take part in the V International Congress Flensburg – Penza. “Arriving in Penza I feel here at home. Friendship Society found in 2011 at my initiative and initiative of Tatiana Al. Razuvaeva [Head of Language and Examination Centre] transferred to a new stage of its development in 2015,” he noted.

Peter Lorenzen also highlighted close collaboration within the international exchange programmes both in general education (that is the partnership between Flensburg gymnasium and Penza gymnasium No. 44), between higher education institutions (that are the academic mobility programmes between PSU and European University Flensburg), as well as joint programmes between PSU Medical Institute and Flensburg clinics. “In recent years we have made a significant progress in promoting and strengthening cooperation,” Peter Lorenzen summarised his speech.

Sergey M. Vasin, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation gave the presentation on the university for those present. The particular emphasis in his report was placed on university relations with organisations from partner-countries.

“PSU closely cooperates with the organisations from 36 countries, – Sergey M. Vasin underlined. – In 2015 – 2017 about 150 students and academics of PSU undertook internship or studied abroad within various scholarship programmes”. It was the first visit of the representatives of Flensburg University of Applied Sciences. Bosco Ler, Vice-Rector for International Activity of Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, outlined the possible priorities of establishing partnership between the universities.

Emeritus Professor Abderrahman Machraoui, cardiac surgeon and coordinator of cooperation between PSU and DIAKO clinics, presented achievements and schemes for German-Russian cooperation.

Ilya Levashov, PSU student awarded the Russian Federation President grant for study abroad in 2017/2018, shared his impressions of his medical internship in DIAKO clinics (Flensburg, Germany). “The internship comes in useful. We have learned a great deal. We sincerely thank our German colleagues,” the student said.

The programme of the congress is particularly rich. Prior to the plenary session the guest visited the exhibition of scientific breakthroughs made by PSU researches. The exhibition was arranged in the hall of the building No. 8. Following the opening ceremony the group work was launched.

On Thursday, September 14th, 2017 the conferences, round table discussions, open lectures and working meetings will be held. Moreover the participants of the forum will visit some large industrial enterprises and hold negotiations in Penza Region Administration.

The congress will last until Saturday, September 16th, 2017.
