Anja Kintler and Katharina Trost, the students of the University of Flensburg (Germany), take part in the academic mobility programme between German university and Penza State University. They pursue teaching internship at Penza school No. 36 within this programme. Moreover, the students actively participate in various projects implemented by PSU. The Institute of International Cooperation is carrying out the project for Penza pupils called Lessons of Friendship. For the first time these lessons were given in a language of native speakers – the students from Germany. Anja Kintler and Katharina Trost met with 6th and 8th-grade pupils in Penza gymnasium No. 1 and presented reports on German history and their native town Flensburg. The students answered numerous questions from pupils. “It was very challenging, – Anja Kintler shared her impressions of the event. – The pupils interacted with us with pleasure. We could see that it was interesting for pupils to ask about our country and to chat with us even though it was difficult for them to speak in English”. “I think it’s right to give such lessons. It is extremely beneficial for motivating pupils, – Katharina Trost commented on the meeting. – It’s essential to pupils to study German as it will prove useful in the future”. This event brought positive emotions and joyful feelings to both German students and pupils. |
