International students of PSU promote cooperation with the Youth Parliament of the Penza Region

On 20 September 2018, PSU students representing the International Students Association of the Penza Region visited the Legislative Assembly of the Penza Region and met with deputies. Additionally, the foreign nationals attended the parliamentary lesson. The hosts also arranged the excursion of the historic building.

The students from 12 countries explored the history of the Russian parliamentary system, the structure and functions of executive and legislative power in the region and the whole state. After that the participants had the meeting with Valery Lidin, Chairperson of the Legislative Assembly.

“About 2000 guests from Russian regions and various countries annually visit this landmark building. During the meeting the deputies and young lawmakers will discuss the joint initiatives.  We welcome any ideas,” the regional speaker of the parliament addressed the foreign citizens.

Following the parliamentary lesson, the representatives of the International Students Association and the Youth Parliament considered the plans for collaboration. The proposal was made to launch interaction within the project “In the footsteps of forgotten estates”, as well as within the Volga Educational Camp for international students POLIS. Moreover, the participants agreed to further give the lessons of friendship in the educational institutions of the Penza Region.

“In spring, the Youth Parliament and the International Students Association of the Penza signed the cooperation agreement. We are to initiate joint activity in the form of specific events in order to promote cultural and historical heritage,” noted Andrey Sushkov, Chairperson of the Youth Parliament of the Penza Region.

Nowadays, the International Students Association brings together about 89000 foreign nationals from 162 countries, who study in the educational institutions of the Russian Federation. The Penza branch of the association represents more than 2500 foreign citizens, who receive education in Penza HEIs.
