PSU hosted the International Conference “Language. Law. Society”

On November 10-13, Penza State University hosted the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference “Language. Law. Society”, dedicated to various problems arising at the intersection of language and law in the modern world.

The event was held with the support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (project No. 20-012-20022, supervisor – Olga Barabash, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Senior Researcher at the Research Institute for Fundamental and Applied Research, Associate Professor at the Department of Russian Language and Methods of Teaching Russian Language), mainly in a distance format. The conference was co-organized by the University of National and World Economy (Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria) and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno (Grodno, Republic of Belarus).

This year the conference was attended by researchers and experts from numerous cities of the Russian Federation, representatives from Bulgaria, Lebanon, France, Spain, Belgium, Croatia, Mongolia, Romania, Greece, China, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan.

The conference participants were welcomed by Sergei Vasin, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation; Antonia Pencheva, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Chairman of the Society of Russianists in Bulgaria;  Rafael Guzman Tirado, Professor,  Doctor of Philological Sciences (Spain); Marina Ignatik,  Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor (Belarus); Irena Mikulaco, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Chairman of the Croatian Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Culture, Associate Professor (Croatia).

The plenary session included the reports by Nikolai Golev, Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences (Kemerovo); Anatoly Baranov, Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences (Moscow); Tatyana Sadovaya, Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences (St. Petersburg); Olga Barabash, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences (Penza); J.-M. Serve, Professor, Doctor of Law (Liege, Belgium).

Sectional meetings were chaired by Anna Aleksandrova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Legal Sciences; Tatiana Dubrovskaya, Associate Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences; Galina Kanakina, Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences;  Boris Nikolaev, Associate Professor, Candidate of Historical Sciences;  Natalia Pavlova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences; Anna Timakova, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences;  as well as Natalya Koshkarova (Chelyabinsk), Svetlana Doronina (Barnaul), Antonia Pencheva (Sofia, Bulgaria). Master classes were conducted by Anatoly Baranov, Professor, Doctor of Philological Sciences (Moscow), Elena Kozerenko, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences (Moscow).

More than 100 people took part in the conference. More than 50% of the reports of Russian participants were prepared based on the results of research projects of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

“An important task of our conference is to provide a dialogue between linguists and lawyers, between researchers and practitioners, experts. The result of this interaction was agreements on the development of new research projects jointly with Russian and foreign colleagues,” said O.Barabash.
