International online round table "Political conflict in the context of national politics and intercultural communication" at the Penza State University

On November 5, the Institute of Teacher Education held an online round table "Political Conflict in the Context of National Politics and Intercultural Communication" in an online format. The event was organized by Ekaterina Aleshina, Head of Department of "Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages" of the Faculty of History, Languages and Literature, supported by the Institute of International Cooperation.

Olga Surina, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Teacher Education, in her welcoming speech noted that political conflict had become an integral feature of our time and was of particular scientific interest as a multidimensional phenomenon. The characteristic feature of the round table was the involvement of Russian and foreign experts studying political conflict in various aspects, which made it possible to better understand the nature of political conflict.

The following foreign researchers made presentations: Hedwig Wagner, Professor of the Department “Culture, Languages, Media”, Europa-Universität Flensburg (Germany), Luciana Radut-Gaghi, Associate Professor of the Department of Information and Communication Sciences of the University of Cergy-Pontoise (France), Erzsébet Stróbl, Professor of the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church, Budapest (Hungary).

The scientific event was attended by Mark Blokh, a well-known linguistic researcher, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of English Grammar, Institute of Foreign Languages, Moscow State Pedagogical University. M. Blokh presented the report "Victory in political confrontation", which is fundamental for the discussed issues. Margarita Seyranyan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Phonetics and Lexis of the English Language, Institute of Foreign Languages, Moscow State Pedagogical University, made a presentation “Prosodic Conflict Generators in Political Discourse”, which reflects innovations in the research of political discourse. Elena Nikolaenko, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of the English Language, Bryansk State University, revealed the metaphorical aspect of political communication.

In the course of the round table, reports were made by O.Sukhova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of History, Languages and Literature; S.Belousov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department "General History and Social Science", A. Mere, a fourth-year student; E. Reva, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Journalism; E.Aleshina, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department "Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages"; A.Timakova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of "Literature and Methods of Teaching Literature"; O. Barabash, Associate Professor of the Department “The Russian Language and Methods of Teaching the Russian Languages”, Senior Research Associate of the Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Research. All the speeches were presented in two languages - Russian and English.

On November 6, in an online format, a workshop was held by Zakarya Despres, a researcher at the Laboratory of Information and Communication Sciences of the University of Cergy-Pontoise (France). The workshop was organized within the framework of DIREPA DICOME international project, which received grant support from Federal Foreign Office and in the implementation of which the Department of Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages participates in cooperation with German and French partners.

The speeches of the round table participants and the workshop were of great interest for the audience and led to a lively discussion. On the results of the event, prospects for further cooperation were outlined.
