Two Jean Monnet Modules launched at PSU

On 1 February 2022 Penza State University launches the project “Protection of Human Rights within and across the European Union” (ProEU) and the project “Social Security Law in the European Union” (EUSOSEL) supported within the Erasmus+ Programme under the call Jean Monnet Actions in the field of Higher Education (Jean Monnet Module).

At the Centre for Teaching and Learning Erasmus+, the project teams represented by Gleb Sintsov, Evgenii Bitiutskii and Danil Feoktistov (ProEU project) and Anna Aleksandrova and Anastasiia Ryzhova (EUSOSEL project) will deliver the new modules and familiarize students of the Institute of Law (PSU) with EU law and European human rights system, as well as social security law in the European Union.

The module “Protection of human rights within and across the European Union” (ProEU project) will improve the students’ knowledge within the following topics:
•    Human rights in international and European legal practice
•    Human rights within advocacy and law enforcement in the EU
•    Legal basis of referendum in the EU
•    National features of referendum in the EU
•    Insight into federalism with regard to human rights
•    Fundamental principles of the effective Ombudsperson

Under the module “Social Security Law in the European Union” (EUSOSEL project) students will explore the following issues:
•    European Union: origin, institutional basis, legal frameworks
•    Aims and objectives of the EU in the social sphere
•    Mechanism for implementing EU competence in the social sphere
•    Evolution of EU social security law
•    Concept of the Social Constitution of the EU and the European Pillar of Social Rights
•    Sources of EU social security law
•    Models of social protection in the EU member states
•    Coordination of social security systems in the EU

In addition, the implementation of the ProEU project and the EUSOSEL project at Penza State University will involve:
•    designing and delivering courses to non-law students
•    holding events for schoolchildren
•    designing and delivering professional training courses for professionals
