Penza State University hosted a traditional futsal tournament among international students

In 2022, 20 teams representing more than 10 countries took part in it - this is about 200 international students. The matches were held on Sunday, March 27, in the sports hall of the Institute of Sport and Physical Training. The tournament was organized by the Department of Student Affairs (International Education Office, Institute of International Cooperation), the Institute of Sport and Physical Training (PSU) and the International Students Association of the Penza Region.

“Traditionally, this tournament is called “winter” and is held in February, but this year there have been changes and the restrictions on COVID-19 were removed, we were able to hold it only at the end of March. There were many applications - football is popular among our international students, and we are very pleased that this tournament always arouses interest among the students,” said the representatives of the Department of Student Affairs.

The guests of honor of the tournament were Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Sergey Ivanchin, Head of the International Education Office, and Adel Maqbol, Chairman of the International Students Association of the Penza Region.

Addressing the teams, Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, once again emphasized the importance of holding this tournament: “I am very glad that the sports festival has finally taken place! Of course, the struggle for victory was very serious. Remember the main thing - regardless of whether  or not you take a prize, each of you is already a winner! Thanks to all the teams for a fair game!”.

The team «Madrid» (team of Arab countries) became the bronze medalist of the tournament. The second place was taken by the «Yemen» team, and the winner of the Futsal Tournament 2022 was the «Egypt» team. All prize-winners were awarded diplomas and medals.
