On Sunday, September 25, volunteers of the Institute for International Cooperation introduced international first-year students to the historical center of the city of Penza. Tutoring for first-year students and students of pre-university training department who came to Penza to study at the university is one of the most important areas of volunteer activity of the PSU Institute of International Cooperation. Finding themselves in a new social, cultural and educational environment, young people face quite serious problems and difficulties that a volunteer team of international students helps them overcome. “Senior students take young people who have come to Penza for the first time under their care and help them to go through the most important period at the moment - the period of settling in a new place and entering the university. Volunteers not only help newcomers to pass the medical check-up and complete all the documents necessary for admission and residence, but also introduce the university, its infrastructure and conduct sightseeing tours around the city,” emphasized Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs.

The tour followed the route of the historical and cultural project "Red Line" - a pedestrian tourist route through the historical center of Penza, which was implemented on the territory of the city in the open. Having taken a walk, the first-year students got acquainted with the main sights of the city - the monument to the First Settler, Kirov, Volodarsky, Moskovskaya and Sovetskaya streets, Penza Art Gallery named after K. A. Savitsky, the Spassky Cathedral, the historical building of Penza M. Yu. Lermontov Regional Library, and other histrorical and architectural monuments.

“We are grateful to the Institute for International Cooperation and the students who accompanied us and continue to accompany us for their help in adapting, getting to know the city and support - for us, first-year students who came from different parts of the world, this is very important!” Aisezim Murzakulova shared her impressions.
