First-year international students took part in the Day of Knowledge
On Thursday, September 1, an event dedicated to the Day of Knowledge was held at the Temp sports and cultural center. It was attended by first-year students, including international ones. In total, more than 2,300 international students from 45 countries are studying at Penza State University, and this year almost 700 students have joined their ranks.
The guests of honor of the University, PSU teaching staff gathered in the grand stands, and most of the spectators and participants were first-year students. The Day of Knowledge at PSU was opened by the Anthem of Russia, the State Flag, the flag of the Penza Region and the flag of Penza State University were solemnly raised.
Oleg Melnichenko, Governor of the Penza Region; Sergey Shchetkin, Chief Federal Inspector for the Penza Region of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District; Oleg Yagov, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Penza Region; Lyubov Bespalova, Chairman of the Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Education Workers; Aleksandr Guliakov, PSU Rector, Chairman of the Council of Rectors; Vladimir Volchikhin, President of Penza State University; Gleb Sintsov, PSU Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and other honored guests came to greet and congratulate the students on the start of the academic year.
International students from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, India, Egypt, Algeria and Jordan took part in the traditional parade of institutes and faculties of Penza State University, after which the 2022 first-year students traditionally took the oath. The event was followed by concert performances prepared by students, including international ones.
