On December 28, 2022, students of the Pre-University Training Department of the Institute of International Cooperation took part in an event dedicated to Russian winter and Russian winter customs.

Foreign citizens got acquainted with traditional Russian winter sports and games, and also saw how to properly wear mittens and felt boots and what an ear-flapped hat (ushanka) is. In addition, students of the Pre-University Training Department learned how to celebrate the New Year in Russia, how to say Happy New Year in Russian, and who Father Frost (Ded Moroz) and Snow Maiden (Snegurochka) are.

Chandra Dimas Ade from Indonesia recited A. Fet's poem "Wonderful Picture" (“Chudnaya Kartina”), and the students of the 22ПО3 group from Zambia, Jordan, Ecuador, under the guidance of Elena Peskova, teacher of the department "Russian as a Foreign Language", sang the song "It's cold in winter for a small New Year tree" (“Malenkoi yolochke kholodno zimoi”). Together with Russian students, the students of Pre-University Training Department took part in winter interactive games, in particular, they led a round dance.

“The acquaintance of foreign citizens with the Russian language and Russian culture is one of the main tasks of the Institute of International Cooperation. In this, we follow the principles of the Concept of Russia's Humanitarian Policy Abroad, which, among other things, focuses on the promotion of the Russian language as the language of international communication, as well as on the dissemination of traditional spiritual and moral values. Cultural and educational events contribute to active international youth interaction and the transfer of knowledge about the culture, traditions and national characteristics of Russia,” commented Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of PSU.
