Penza State University student Tuitu Hemza became the winner of the VIII International Olympiad in Russian as a Foreign Language, held by Orenburg State Medical University.

The event was held from February 10 to March 15. More than 100 students from far abroad countries (Algeria, Afghanistan, Botswana, Gabon, Egypt, Zambia, India, Iraq, Yemen, Canada, China, the Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria, France, Chad, South Africa) studying at the universities of the Russian Federation took part in the Olympiad.

Tatyana Kolyuzhko, senior teacher of the department "Russian as a Foreign Language", supervised the PSU participant, who is studying at the department "Russian as a Foreign Language" in the study field 45.03.02 Linguistics "Theory and Practice of Intercultural Communication".

The purpose of the Olympiad is to promote the Russian language, the cultural and historical traditions of the country of the language being studied and to analyze the level of language training of international students.

The Olympiad was held in two stages. At the first stage, students did a test in vocabulary, grammar and regional studies. The top 17 advanced to the second stage, which took place on March 15 and was held in a hybrid format.

For students of Orenburg universities, the final stage was held within the walls of Orenburg State Medical University. The winners of the first stage were asked to complete tasks in listening, writing and speaking. Nonresident students took part in the Olympiad in a distant mode. They performed tasks involving working with video material and preparing a speaking task.

The jury summed up the results and identified the winners of the VIII International Olympiad in Russian as a Foreign Language. The winners of the Olympiad (distant mode) were two contestants: Tuitu Hemza (Algeria) from Penza State University and Jazaa Haedara (Syria) from Kuban State Medical University.
