From 10 to 14 May 2023 Saransk, the capital city of the Republic of Mordovia, hosted the Student Sports Festival of the Volga Federal District. The students from the Republic of Mordovia, the Penza Region, the Ulyanovsk Region and the Republic of Mari El competed in three sports, namely badminton, basketball and cricket.

The team bringing together the international students from India, China and Kyrgyzstan studying at Penza State University returned to Penza with deserved awards. The silver medals were brought to PSU by international basketball players, who lost only to the hosts, namely the representatives of the N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University.

The international cricket team from PSU won a decisive victory, beating the international students from Ulyanovsk in the final match. The team members Aantkhana Mahamed Uwesh Yacoub and Patel Preet Prakash were awarded the special prizes. Thanks to the support of Dr. Yuvraajsinh Solanki, general partner of Penza State University from India, more than 100 students came to the finals to support the PSU team.

“We are very happy to participate in this festival. We sincerely thank the organisers for their hospitality and the participants from other cities for fair play and friendly environment. It is our first time in Saransk. The city is beautiful, so I hope that we will come back here!” shared Altybaev Myktybek, member of the PSU team from Kyrgyzstan.
