The special event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Association of International Students of the Penza Region took place on 21 May 2023 as part of the 8th POLIS camp, officially known as the Volga Educational Camp.

The guests of honour at the celebration were Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Penza State University Gleb Sintsov, President of the Association of International Students in Russia Issa Shaabo, Vice President of the Association of International Students in Russia Alsendor Robenson, Head of the International Relations Department of N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University Irina Kazeeva, Assistant Vice-Rector for International Affairs of N.P. Ogarev Mordovia State University Shakirjan Khudayarov, Chairman of the Youth Union of the Penza Region Sergei Zinoviev, Head of the International Education Office of Penza State University Sergey Ivanchin and Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Citizens Training and Additional Education of Penza State Technological University Anna Korosteleva.

The Association of International Students of the Penza Region is a youth student organization that unites foreign nationals studying in the region. Today almost 4000 students from more than 60 countries receive higher education in Penza universities. In his welcoming speech, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of PSU emphasized the role of the association in the life of international students: “For the past 10 years, the organization has been creating conditions for the fastest possible adaptation of foreigners at the universities, holding numerous social, cultural, sports and scientific events, promoting understanding and friendship among students representing different countries and peoples”.

To mark the anniversary of the International Students of the Penza Region, the letters of appreciation were awarded to the students enrolled in the higher education institutions in the Penza Region for proactive lifestyle, involvement in public life, academic performance, scientific achievements and creativity:

- Abdumazhidova Parizoda Akmalovna (Uzbekistan), a student of the Faculty of History, Languages and Literature, V.G. Belinsky Institute of Teacher Education, Penza State University;
- Atajanova Shabibi (Turkmenistan), a student of the Faculty of General Medicine, Medical Institute, Penza State University;
- Mamatkulov Zhavokhir Oybekovich (Kyrgyzstan), a student of the Faculty of Computer Engineering, Polytechnic Institute, Penza State University;
- Mohamed Abdelrahman Saad Abdelhakim (Egypt), a clinical residency student of the Faculty of General Medicine, Medical Institute, Penza State University;
- Muradyan Saakanush Mishaevna (Armenia), a student of the Faculty of History, Languages and Literature, V.G. Belinsky Institute of Teacher Education, Penza State University;
- Nurgazy kyzy Kanykei, (Kyrgyzstan), a student of the Faculty of Computer Engineering, Polytechnic Institute, Penza State University;
- Solanki Nityarajsinh Rajendrasinh (India), a student of the Faculty of General Medicine, Medical Institute, Penza State University;
- Ybykeev Atabek (Kyrgyzstan), a student of the Faculty of Industrial Technologies, Power Engineering  and Transport, Polytechnic Institute, Penza State University;
- Khojimatov Shahboz Bakhtiyorovich (Tajikistan), a student of the Agronomic Faculty, Penza State Agriculture University;
- Chetouan Amar (Algeria), a student of the Faculty of Automated Information Technologies, Penza State Technological University;
- Sadulloev Abdurashid Akbarkhonovich (Tajikistan), a student of the Institute of Civil Engineering, Penza State University of Architecture and Construction.

President of the Association of International Students in Russia Issa Shaabo recalled the times when he as a student had just arrived in the Russian Federation: “We had just begun to form the Association of International Students as a body. It surely was, is and will be important and necessary for students from different countries. The Central Office of the association congratulates the students and staff on this significant event, on the 10th anniversary of the regional branch! We sincerely thank you for fruitful and productive work to welcome and adapt foreign nationals, who come to the Russian Federation for studying”.

Chairman of the Youth Union of the Penza Region Sergei Zinoviev noted successful learning, training and mentoring provided to the international students at Penza State University. “In the past year alone, the foreign nationals studying at PSU won many creative competitions, became champions of the Official KVN League “Sura”, became laureates of the Regional Student Spring and will represent the university and the Penza Region at the all-Russian stage of this creative competition”, emphasized Sergei Zinoviev. “I wish the Association of International Students of the Penza Region prosperity and new victories!”

As part of the association anniversary, the results of the 8th POLIS camp were summed up. Chairman of the regional branch of the association Adel Ali Omar Maqbol presented the certificates of participation to the students and certificates of gratitude to the mentors and organizers of the camp.

A gift to mark the 10th anniversary of the Association of International Students of the Penza Region was a concert prepared by the creative team of Penza State University.
