The team of international students and students of the pre-university training department of the Institute of International Cooperation of PSU received a first-degree diploma in the nomination “University presentation. Advertising card” of the VIII International Festival of International Students’ Russian Speech “Berega”. The event was held from 26 to 29 April at Volgograd State Technical University. In addition, Penza State University students won prizes in several nominations. On the first day of the festival, the students participated in an oral tour, which included two nominations: "Reciting a poem by Russian authors" and "Vocal". On the same day, a writing competition was held. At the end of the first day, international students could improve their speaking skills by attending a workshop in stage speech "The Art of Speaking Russian". The second day of the festival opened with the work of the round table "Modern approaches to teaching international students at a Russian university", which was attended by Nataliia Barysheva, Head of the Pre-University Training Office of the Institute of International Cooperation, PSU, and Anna Borovaya, senior teacher of the Department "Russian as a foreign language", PSU. The second day continued with the competitions "Staging of a literary work" and "Assessment of communicative behavior in speech situations." A student of the pre-university training department of the Institute for International Cooperation, Ezekiel Namalongo (teacher of the Russian language - Elena Peskova, senior teacher of the department "Russian as a foreign language") took 3rd place in the nomination "Written work in Russian". A 1st year student of the Medical Institute Amira Ahmed Samir Abdalla (teacher of the Russian language - Anna Borovaya) took 3rd place in the nomination "Assessment of communicative behavior in speech situations." The team of Penza State University received a first-degree diploma in the nomination “University presentation. Advertising card". “For international students, participation in such events is a certain incentive to study the Russian language and culture of Russia. The festival allowed our students to see and hear many new and interesting facts about Russia, Russian cities and their places of interest. For teachers, of course, the opportunity to discuss the most pressing issues both in the methodology and in the organization of teaching Russian as a foreign language plays an important role,” said Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of PSU.
