The best international students were awarded a trip to Nizhny Novgorod
Every year, international students of Penza State University who excel in science, studies, sports, creativity and social life are awarded an excursion to one of the cities of Russia. And this year was no exception - the students visited the city of Nizhny Novgorod.
“Trips of this kind allow international students to get acquainted with Russian culture and history, to learn more about the traditions of different peoples of Russia,” commented Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, “and also to unite in one friendly international team. It is these unforgettable moments that will remain in the memory of international students for life!”.
During the tour, the students got acquainted with one of the most ancient and picturesque cities in Russia, they saw the place where two great rivers merge - the Volga and the Oka, the so-called Strelka. The visited the monumental Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, admired merchant mansions, tenement houses on Rozhdestvenskaya and Nizhnevolzhskaya embankments, famous city squares and monuments to K. Minin and D. Pozharsky, M. Gorky, V. Chkalov. Of course, the international students visited the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin and got acquainted with the history of its creation, legends that are connected with the construction of the towers of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.
The most memorable moment of the trip was a boat trip along the Volga, during which the students had a panoramic view of the city, the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, the Chkalov Stairs and the Ascension Caves Monastery.
In addition, the delegation from the Institute of International Cooperation visited the city of Gorodets, namely the museum called "City of All Trades". The City of All Trades is a complex of wooden structures dedicated to the history of wooden architecture of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the period of the 16th-19th centuries. In this complex, the luxurious princely tower, and the wooden houses of wealthy merchants, as well as modest peasant huts are presented at once.
“How wonderful that in addition to gaining knowledge or doing what we love, like sports, cultural activities, and so on, we can travel around the cities of Russia! We are grateful to the Institute of International Cooperation for the opportunity to visit such beautiful historical cities and get to know Russian culture and its identity even closer,” international students of PSU emphasized.
