PSU international first-year students were shown the historical center of the city
In September, as part of the adaptation measures, a series of excursions for international first-year students took place around the historical part of the city “Penza. At the walls of the old fortress". The guides were employees of the Edinstvo (“Unity”) children's center, which is located at the City Library No. 2 named after. M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin.
“Now is the most acute period for our first-year students when they need help and support, and thanks to adaptation measures, international students quickly adapt to the new socio-cultural environment, which is very important for the successful acquisition of professional knowledge,” emphasized Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs.
Students from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan learned about the history of the foundation of Penza, walked along the “perimeter” of the old fortress, visited the monument to the First Settler, and visited one of the shortest streets of our city - Belinsky Street, Lermontov Square, Cathedral Square.
“Of course, the most significant objects and sights are concentrated in the historical center,” says Violetta Dobryakova, a guide at the Edinstvo center. “Penza has experienced many significant events in its lifetime, has changed, become prettier, but has retained its originality.” The students were interested to find out where they would spend several years of their youth and get acquainted with Russian culture.” “We are grateful to the Institute of International Cooperation and the library representatives for their help in adaptation, getting to know the city and support - for us, first-year students who have come from different parts of the world, this is very important!” - Babajan Khojanepesov shared his impressions.
