PSU hosts scientific and practical conference for international students “Intercultural communication in the modern world”

On Wednesday, December 6, the XII International Scientific and Practical Conference of International Students “Intercultural Communication in the Modern World” was held at Penza State University. This is a unique project by the Institute of International Cooperation, within the framework of which every international student can engage in interesting scientific developments together with university teachers.

In 2023, “Intercultural Communication in the Modern World” brought together representatives of India, China, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, studying at universities in Penza, Yekaterinburg, Kirov and Saratov. Among the participating universities are the Ural State University of Railway Transport, Stolypin Volga Region Institute of Administration - branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Vyatka State Agrotechnological University.

It is important to note the fact that this year a significant number of research works were presented jointly with Russian students. The conference has become a platform for creating a favorable atmosphere of interethnic communication and strengthening friendship between Russian and international students.

At the plenary session, Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, addressed the participants and guests with a welcoming speech. “I am confident that participants in all sections will find the right audience, and that each of you will discover new talents, because the primary goal of our conference is to develop your abilities as young scientists. This conference is a kind of start for your scientific development,” said the Director of the Institute of International Cooperation.

Nikola Petrovic, a doctoral student at the University of Novi Sad (Serbia), a researcher at the IC METACOGNIS Institute (Serbia), and a researcher at the University of Ioannina (Greece), gave a plenary report on the topic “Implementation of information technologies in healthcare in Serbia.”

Within the framework of the conference, the work was carried out by 6 sections:

- “The Role of Media in Intercultural Communication” (section leaders - Ekaterina Aleshina, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages, and Tatiana Razuvaeva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the department “Foreign Languages and Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages”);

- “Linguistic reality in the Era of Globalization: the fate of the Russian language in the world” (section leader – Olga Barabash, Department of Russian as a Foreign Language”);

- “Social Adaptation of International Students at a Russian university: Problems and Solutions” (section leader – Ekaterina Syagaylo, Head of the Department of Student Affairs, Institute of International Cooperation);

- “Problems of Development of the World Economy and International Relations in the 21st Century: Guidelines and Prospects” (section leader - Inna Pitaikina, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Theory and International Relations);

- “Current Problems of Domestic and Foreign Medical Science" (section leader - Natalya Pravosudova, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Microbiology, Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases),

- “Youth Participation in the Development of Interethnic Dialogue: the Key to Peace Without War” (section leader – Daria Stepanova, senior lecturer of the Department of Private and Public Law).
