Three Russian universities, universities of the Republic of India and the Republic of Mauritius held an international online webinar on culture and traditions

Penza State University, APEX Professional University (India) and the Open University of the Republic of Mauritius co-organized the international online research webinar “A World Without Borders. Exploring the cultural roots and knowledge systems of Russia, India and Mauritius." The event was held remotely on Tuesday, March 12.

The day of the webinar coincided with the Independence Day of the Republic of Mauritius. The event participants warmly congratulated everyone involved in this holiday.

The Chairman of the Council for Scientific Research and Innovation of the Republic of Mauritius, Professor Koveraj Sukon, made a welcoming speech. “Such events contribute to the development of intercultural communication, deepening friendly ties and the formation of a tolerant attitude towards the cultural heritage of different peoples, preventing interethnic tension anywhere in the world,” he said.

The work of the international webinar was aimed at revealing the heritage, traditions and diversity of cultures prevailing and practiced in India, Russia and the Republic of Mauritius. According to the organizers, this will provide authentic information to the viewing audience and strengthen mutual relationships.

The webinar participants were well-known researchers in the field of traditional Indian knowledge systems: Ayurveda, yoga, Vedic cosmology. From the Indian APEX University, the founder and president of the university, Dr. Acharya Dhanwant Singh, made a presentation. He is known for serving on the board of trustees of several educational institutions in India. In addition, according to one of the most authoritative and well-known financial and economic publications in the world, FORBES, Acharya Dhanwant Singh is one of the forty influential educators in the country.

From the Open University of the Republic of Mauritius, Dr. Professor Ish Sharma presented a report on “The Role of Yoga and Ayurveda for Health.” And Dr. Kewal Naek, philologist and expert in the field of Sanskrit, spoke about the history, present state and prospects for the development of this language in Mauritius.

The webinar participants could get acquainted with the traditions and national holidays and festivals held in Mauritius.

From the PSU side, the following speakers made presentations: Olga Meshcheryakova, Head of the International Relations Office of the Institute of International Cooperation; Alla Tarkhova, Head of the Department of Cultural and Project activities; Valery Volkov, Professor of the Department of Gymnastics and Sport Games at the Institute of Sport and Physical Training.

More than 70 people attended the webinar. At the end of the event, the organizers adopted a resolution that such meetings would be held regularly on an annual basis.
