PSU celebrates 35th anniversary of international activity

The solemn event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of international activity at Penza State University took place at the university on May 21. This holiday united those who have already successed in life thanks to PSU and those who are only taking their first steps in science and education, as well as teaching and administrative staff and all those who every day glorify the university with their work and contribute to the development of international education. 35 years ago, international students from Cambodia arrived at V.G. Belinsky Penza Pedagogical Institute to receive higher education, opening the first page in the history of the modern International Education Office and International Cooperation Office.

First Vice-Rector Dmitry Artamonov addressed the audience: “I am glad to welcome you at Penza State University on this solemn day. It is very gratifying that on this beautiful May day we gathered here and saw what true international friendship is. The International Education Office is a powerful structural unit. About 3,000 foreign nationals are studying, learning the Russian language, exploring Russian culture, science and art. It is great that international students will take a piece of Russia to their home countries and warmly remember their alma mater with . I would like to congratulate the leadership and staff of the International Education Office, wish them long-term prosperity and new generations of talented students”.

For high academic performance, extensive research and great involvement in the public life of the university and in connection with the 35th anniversary of international activity at Penza State University, international students were awarded with the letters of gratitude:

- Yesenalieva Dayana, Kyrgyz Republic;
- Mohamed Abdelrahman Saad Abdelhakim, Arab Republic of Egypt;

The holiday was attended by the guests of honor from the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of India and the Republic of Tajikistan, who partner the university. Penza State University received congratulatory addresses from:

- President of the Association of International Students of Russia Issa Shaabo;

- Chairman of the Public Association "Migrant Trade Union" Zhamalidin Eshankulov, Kyrgyz Republic;
- Representative of the Council on Migration Issues under the Toraga Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic in Moscow Sagynbay Rasulov.

Chairman of the Association of International Students Adel Ali Omar Makbol congratulated the university on its anniversary: "35 years is just the beginning. I would like to wish development and success to the International Education Office and International Cooperation Office. I hope that our international students will continue to feel at home here. This is a lot of work! Thanks to the Rector of PSU Aleksandr Guliakov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Gleb Sintsov and all the staff members, international activity is proliferating anf flourising at our university".

The solemn event ended with a festive concert, which involved the best performances of international students of PSU. The Municipal Choreographic Ensemble "Zorenka", the cadets of the Branch of Army General A.V. Khrulev Military Academy of Logistics and Technical Support and the Dance Team "Flowers of the East" also came to congratulate the university on this occasion.
