PSU hosts VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Language. Law. Society"

The VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Language. Law. Society" is held within the walls of Penza State University on November 27-29, 2024. The conference is organized within the framework of a subsidy from the federal budget to educational organizations of higher education for the implementation of events aimed at supporting student scientific communities (project "SSO-marathon: youth and science - together we create the future!", agreement dated May 30, 2024 No. 075-15-2024-597).

This year the conference is devoted to current issues of interaction between language and law, linguistic examination of controversial texts, issues of intercultural communication, translation, teaching the Russian language and preserving traditional values in the modern world.

The grand opening of the conference took place on November 27. The participants were addressed with welcoming speeches by Sergei Vasin, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, Igor Artemov, Director of the Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Studies, Dr. Antonia Pencheva, Chairperson of the Bulgarian Society of Russianists (Bulgaria), Dr. Irena Mikulaco, Chairperson of the Croatian Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature (Croatia),  Natalia Bohu, Chairperson of the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in the Kingdom of Morocco (CCORC) (Morocco), Maksat Bugraev, Acting Dean of the Faculty of the Russian Language and Literature of Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages (Turkmenistan), Pavel Katyshev, Professor of the Department of General and Russian Linguistics of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute. The speakers noted the high level of organization of the conference and the relevance of the topics proposed for discussion.

Leading Russian and foreign scholars presented their reports at the plenary session: Dr. Samer Anous (Tripoli, Lebanon; Monterey, USA); Doctor of Law, Professor Vladislav Turanin (Belgorod, Russia); Doctor of Philology, Leading Researcher at the Institute of Linguistic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Rudnev (St. Petersburg, Russia).

He Xinxing, senior lecturer of Xi'an International University (Xi'an, China), arrived at PSU to participate in the conference. He gave a plenary report on teaching Russian in China and also took part in other conference sessions.

Penza State University was represented at the plenary meeting by Olga Barabash,  Candidate of Philological Sciences, Acting Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, Senior Researcher of the Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Studies, Chairperson of the Conference Organizing Committee,  and Hami Batoul,  Master's degree student of the Institute of International Cooperation, PSU. They gave a report on "Semantics of the Game in Russian and Arabic Phraseology (Based on texts on politics)".

About 100 scientists, including young researchers, are taking part in the conference. In addition, about 200 students from PSU and other universities in Russia, near and far abroad have registered for workshops organized within the framework of the conference. All participants of the event will receive certificates.
A research competition has been announced for students presenting reports; the winners will receive diplomas.
