The Department of Russian as a Foreign Language held an event dedicated to the Chinese New Year celebration
In 2025, the celebration of New Year in China starts on January 28 and will last for several days.
The teachers of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language organized an event for students dedicated to the Chinese New Year celebration. It was an intergroup lesson in an unconventional format: undergraduate and graduate students from China, who stayed in Penza for the holidays, gathered in an improvised New Year's café.
"We wanted to create a cozy home atmosphere for the students, because New Year is a family holiday! At the same time, the students were able to practice their Russian, talking about the traditions of celebrating New Year in China," said O.V. Barabash, Head of the Department.
The students and teachers brought holiday treats, green Chinese tea, and tangerines. The students made traditional decorations - couplets on which they wrote New Year's wishes.
Wang Zibing, Fan Xingyu, Lin Bingxuan, Hou Jiaxin, Cui Guifeng, under the guidance of the department assistants N. V. Zagumennikova, K. A. Mityurnikova, and A. A. Khabibulina, prepared colourful presentations and reports on Chinese festive clothing, New Year's cuisine and traditions. Liu Junchen gave a report on the image of a snake (the symbol of 2025) in Chinese linguistic culture. At the end of the event, all participants shared good wishes to each other.
