On Sunday, September 14, activists from the Institute of International Cooperation introduced international first-year students to the historical center of the city of Penza.

Volunteer activities of the Institute of International Cooperation of PSU include an important area, which is tutoring support for first-year students who have arrived to study in Russia. Having found themselves in a new social, cultural and educational environment, students often experience significant difficulties, which activists among international students help to cope with.

"Not only does a city tour organized by international activists for our first-year students introduce the newcomers to the sights of Penza, but also helps them quickly adapt to new living and studying conditions. Such an event helps international students better integrate into our university environment, feel part of a large student community and experience the university's caring attitude towards each student," emphasized Gleb Sintsov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs.

The excursion followed the route of the Red Line historical and cultural project- a walking tour of the historical center of Penza, which was implemented in the city in the open air. After taking a walk, the first-year students got acquainted with the main sights of the city - the monument to the First Settler, Kirov, Voldarsky, Moskovskaya and Sovetskaya streets, K.A. Savitsky Penza Art Gallery, the Spassky Cathedral, the historical building of M.Yu. Lermontov Penza Regional Library and other historical and architectural monuments. Also, international first-year students got acquainted with the only wooden planetarium in Russia and visited V.G. Belinsky Central Park of Culture and Leisure.

"It turned out that Penza is a beautiful and cozy city with a rich history and culture. Our senior fellows did everything possible to make us feel comfortable and confident. Now we understand why many guys say that studying at PSU is a real adventure!" the first-year students shared their impressions.
