The Indian Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (Kolkata) has published a book by Indologist, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Faculty of Pedagogy, Psychology and Social Sciences of PSU Tatyana Skorokhodova, “Rammohan Roy, the First Philosopher of the Indian Renaissance.”

This monograph was published in honor of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding reformer and "Father of Modern India," Rammohan Roy (1772–1833). A religious thinker and public figure, he relied on philosophical approaches, ideas, and meanings presented in his writings on a variety of topics. Tatyana Skorokhodova explored his intellectual profile in the context of a dialogue of cultures and, based on the hermeneutics of his texts, proposed a reconstruction of religious and social philosophy as a holistic phenomenon in the history of philosophy.

For the first time in philosophical Indology, Rammohan Roy is presented as a genuine philosopher, the creator of modern philosophical thought in India.
