DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the programme is to prepare highly qualified ultrasonographers who possess a system of universal, general professional and professional competencies and are able and ready to perform independent professional activities. The training course covers the entire volume of theoretical and practical skills, as well as the study of the basics of ultrasound physics, characteristics of ultrasound imaging of diseases of various organs and organ systems, and the basics of differential diagnosis of various diseases. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the clinical residency programme the graduates should be able to:
•    select methods of ultrasound examination in accordance with the existing procedure for providing medical aid and clinical recommendations (treatment protocols) on issues related to providing medical aid, taking into account medical aid standards;
•    prepare the patient for an ultrasound examination;
•    conduct ultrasound examinations for patients of various ages (including pregnant women), using methods of grey scale echography and Doppler ultrasonography with qualitative and quantitative analysis;
•    interpret the obtained data and detect pathology based on the results of ultrasound examination;
•    conduct training activities, such as training junior medical staff;
•    analyse medical and statistical information, keep medical documentation and organise work activities of subordinate medical staff;
•    provide emergency medical aid for conditions requiring immediate medical intervention;
•    apply information and communications technology in professional activities and observe the requirements of information security;
•    apply basic principles of organisation and management in the field of healthcare and assessment of the quality of medical aid using main medical and statistical indicators.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates are able to work as ultrasonographers in various medical organisations and implement professional activities in the field of diagnosing diseases of various organs and organ systems.
