DESCRIPTION
The programme provides Bachelor’s degree students with academic knowledge and practical skills required in spheres of technical systems and technologies, the structure of which includes any living systems and which are associated with the control and management of the state of living systems, support of their life activity, as well as with the maintenance of optimal working conditions for humans.
The objects of professional activity of graduates who have mastered the undergraduate program are: instruments, systems and complexes for biomedical and environmental purposes; methods and technologies for medical, environmental and ergonomic research; automated systems for processing biomedical and environmental information; biotechnical control systems with a human operator included as a control link; biotechnical systems of human life support and life support of other biological objects; computer-aided design systems for information support of biotechnical systems and technologies; biotechnical systems and technologies for health; design systems, production technology and maintenance of biomedical engineering.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• identify the natural scientific essence of problems arising in the course of professional activity, involve the corresponding physic-mathematical mechanism for solving them;
• use computer skills, master the methods of information technology, comply with the basic requirements of information security;
• conduct biomedical, environmental and scientific and technical research using technical tools, information technology and methods of processing results;
• form presentations, scientific and technical reports on the results of the work performed, issue research results in the form of articles and reports at scientific and technical conferences;
• work on the technological preparation of equipment and devices for medical and environmental purposes production;
• carry out the verification and adjustment of equipment, setting up software tools used for the development, production and configuration of biomedical and environmental engineering;
• applying basic rules for the repair and maintenance of medical equipment, the basics of the technology of medical equipment maintenance;
• perform tasks in the field of certification of hardware, systems, processes, equipment and materials;
• make applications for spare parts and consumables, as well as verification and calibration of equipment;
• develop instructions for the personnel for the operation of technical equipment and software of biomedical and environmental laboratories;
• carry out the calculation and design of parts and components of biotechnical systems, biomedical and environmental engineering in accordance with the technical requirements using design automation tools;
• possess the development of design and technical documentation, draw up completed design work in the subject area of biotechnical systems and technologies.

The graduates can work at instrument-making enterprises, at factories in quality control laboratories and diagnostics, in oil and gas, aviation, engineering industry, in construction design offices and city metrology laboratories, in research institutes, in small business, construction and at other industrial and civilian facilities as specialists in servicing modern medical equipment of healthcare institutions, in the services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), etc.
