DESCRIPTION
The master’s degree programme is aimed at exploring chemistry as a science and a modern educational discipline, at acquiring the research methods in the sphere of chemistry and chemical education. It provides the training of specialists who are good at modern computer teaching technologies, who are capable of designing and implementing educational programmes in chemistry in different types of educational establishments, of delivering elective courses, conducting project and research work of students, organizing and conducting contests and competitions in chemistry.
The master’s degree programme is focused on developing the students’ personal features as well as general, professional and specialized competences.
Forms of in-class activity: lectures, seminars, laboratory classes, practical work, review sessions, students’ individual work, and research work.
AIMS
teaching activity:
• studying abilities, needs and achievements of students according to the level of the educational programme;
• organizing the process of teaching and learning with the use of technologies relevant to the age and psychological characteristics of the students as well as to their educational needs;
• interacting with colleagues, parents, social partners including foreign ones;
• professional self-development and personal growth;
research activity:
• analyzing, systemizing and generalizing the results of research in science and education by applying a set of research methods when solving particular research tasks;
• conducting research and analyzing its results with the use of modern research methods and technologies;
project activity:
• designing educational programmes and individual educational routes for students;
• designing the content of subjects (modules), forms and control methods, assessment materials;
• designing educational environment contributing to the quality of the educational process;
• designing a further educational route and professional career;
methodological activity:
• studying and analyzing professional and educational needs and possibilities of teachers and designing routes of individual methodological support on the basis of the results obtained;
• studying, organizing and evaluating the results of methodological support of teachers;
management activity:
• studying the state and potential of the system under management and its macro- and microenvironment by using a set of methods for strategic and operational analysis;
• studying, organizing and evaluating the results of managerial process with the use of management technologies relevant to general and specific patterns of developing the system under management;
• using the existing opportunities of the system and designing the ways of development to provide the quality of management.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• acquire and apply modern research methods, learn new spheres of professional activity;
• demonstrate professional and personal self-education, design further educational routes and professional career;
• analyze patterns of chemistry development and its modern state to use the research results in pedagogical and research activity in different educational establishments;
• systemize, generalize and disseminate methodological best practices (national and international) in theory and methods of teaching chemistry;
• develop teaching and learning materials for academic subjects, courses, modules of disciplines and classes of different stages of educational programmes and for different educational institutions;
• apply modern methods and techniques of organizing educational activity, diagnosing and evaluating the quality of educational process according to different educational programmes;
• manage the students’ research work;
• design educational environment, in particular, under the conditions of inclusion;
• develop the content of disciplines, technologies and methods of teaching;
• develop and implement methodological models, techniques and tools of teaching, analyze the results of their usage in educational establishments;
• organize team work for solving problems of educational establishments, for implementing experimental work;
• use individual and group technologies of decision making to manage educational establishments.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The graduates are engaged in pedagogical and research work in secondary general and vocational educational establishments, research laboratories of educational establishments.
