DESCRIPTION
The mission of the programme is to provide a high level of master’s degree training in accordance with the existing and projected needs of enterprises and institutions in Russia. The programme aims to train highly qualified personnel capable of performing quality management work on products (services) at all stages of its life cycle, performing metrological support for the development, production, testing and operation of products (services), carrying out work to confirm the conformity of products (services) and quality management systems of organizations.
AIMS
research activity:
• analysing, synthesising, and optimising the processes of managing metrological support, standardisation, and certification;
• modelling processes, equipment, and manufacturing facilities using modern information research technologies;
• developing methods and technologies for conducting experiments and tests, as well as processing and analysing results;
• making decisions related to ensuring the quality of products, processes and services;
• collecting, processing, systematising, and summarising scientific and technical information, as well as Russian and foreign experience in the field of metrological support and technical regulation;
• writing scientific and technical reports, reviews and publications on research and development results.
design activity:
• conducting verification and calibration of measuring instruments; updating the reference base, tools of measurement and control, testing equipment;
• organising accreditation procedures in the fields of ensuring measurement uniformity and confirming compliance;
• develop, implement and support quality control systems in an organisation;
• ensuring metrological support at each stage of product life cycle;
• developing methodological and regulatory documents and technical documentation in the field of professional activities;
• analysing the state and dynamics of quality indicators of objects and technological processes, forecasting trends in the development of objects, processes and systems.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• analyse and identify the nature-scientific essence of issues in the field of standardisation and metrology based on the acquired knowledge;
• formalise tasks in the field of standardisation and metrological support and substantiate solving methods;
• individually solve tasks of standardisation and metrological support based on the latest achievements of science and engineering;
• develop criteria and apply methods for assessing the results of standardisation and metrology in production and non-production areas;
• conduct patent research, define forms and methods for the legal protection of intellectual property in the field of standardisation and metrology development;
• control metrological requirements compliance at enterprises;
• participate in research and pedagogical activities using scientific achievements in the field of metrology and standardisation;
• develop training and methodological materials and participate in the implementation of educational programmes;
• develop algorithms and software for the practical application in professional activities using modern information and communication technologies while taking into account information security.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the programme are able to occupy positions of a first-category metrological engineer, a first-category metrologist, a chief metrologist, a head of laboratory/department/metrology office, deputy director for quality control.
