DESCRIPTION
One of the main features of a graduate of this programme is a high level of knowledge in the field of fundamental mathematics and mechanics, applied and computational mathematics, computer science and modern information technologies, sufficient for successful teaching in organizations engaged in educational activities. The graduate must have a high general level of culture, erudition, the ability to popularise scientific knowledge to a wide audience and acquaint it with the successful experience of scientists and popularisers of science, to disseminate knowledge in the field of fundamental mathematics and mechanics, computer science and related fields in the course of teaching and research work. The graduate of this educational program is a creative person and is capable of successfully conducting independent pedagogical, research and project activities in the field of mathematics, mechanics, computer science and related fields.
AIMS
teaching activity:
• teaching physical and mathematical disciplines (modules), including informatics and mechanics, in educational organisations;
• developing methodological support for the educational process in educational organisations;
• conducting socio-oriented activities aimed at popularising exact knowledge, disseminating scientific knowledge among a wider population, including the youth, supporting and developing new educational technologies.
research activity:
• applying methods of physical, mathematical, and algorithmic modelling when analysing processes, phenomena, and objects with the aim of finding efficient solutions to general-science and applied cross-cutting tasks;
• developing the mathematical theory and mathematical methods, theoretical fundamentals of mechanics, taking into account modern achievements of Russian and international science and engineering;
• building new mathematical models and algorithms;
• conducting research in mathematics, mechanics, and computer sciences;
• solving applied tasks in the field of mechanics, mathematics, protected information and telecommunication technologies and systems;
• analysing research results, preparing scientific publications, reviewing and editing scientific articles.
project activity:
• developing mathematical support and software for computers;
• developing new mathematical models in mechanics and creating specialised software;
• correctly using specialised software complexes when setting and solving tasks in mechanics and other applied fields;
• implementing the results of research in mechanics into practice;
• developing methods of mathematical modelling and numerical methods necessary for implementing production and technological activities;
• analysing the results of production and technological activities, conducting a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the consequences of solutions.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• teach mathematics and mechanics in higher education institutions based on the acquired fundamental education and a scientific worldview;
• demonstrate fundamental knowledge of mathematics, mechanics, natural sciences, programming basics, and IT;
• create and study new models in mathematics, mechanics, and natural sciences, taking into account the capabilities of modern technologies;
• use modern methods for developing numerical methods and implementing mathematical models based on programming languages and software packages, including those for multi-processor computing systems;
• develop software products and complexes to solve problems in mathematics, mechanics, and natural science;
• manage software complex projects at each stage of their lifecycle.
