DESCRIPTION

The mission of the programme is to provide training for qualified competitive specialists in the field of research and production and technological activities based on advanced information technologies. The purpose of the program is to form students' universal, general professional competencies and professional competencies, and to develop students' professional and personal qualities.

AIMS

research activity:
•    studying patterns of formation and development of the information society, information properties and specifics of information processes;
•    studying applied and information processes, applying and developing efficient methods for formalising and algorithmizing information processes;
•    analysing and generalising research results using modern scientific and engineering achievements;
•    studying prospective areas of applied informatics;
•    analysing and developing methods for managing information resources;
•    assessing the economic viability of information processes, information systems, and project risks;
•    studying and applying prospective methods of information consulting and information marketing;
•    analysing and developing methods for managing information services;
•    analysing and developing methods for managing automation and informatisation projects;
•    studying the application field of functional and technological standards in the sphere of creating information systems for enterprises and organisations;
•    preparing publications on research topics.

production and technological activity:
•    applying international information resources and knowledge management systems to the information support of decision-making processes and organisational development;
•    organising and managing projects in enterprise informatisation, making decisions on implementing these projects, organising and managing the implementation of information systems projects in applied fields;
•    organising and conducting works on technical and economic justification of project solutions;
•    managing information systems quality;
•    organising and conducting system analysis and reengineering of applied and information processes, setting and solving applied tasks;
•    modelling applied and information processes, developing requirements for the creation and development of information systems and their components;
•    integrating information systems components and automation and informatisation objects based on functional and technological standards;
•    making decisions on ensuring the required quality, reliability, and information security of information system services for enterprises and organisations when operating them;
•    organising and managing the operation of an information system.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    apply advanced methods for assessing the quality, reliability, and information security of economic information systems during operation;
•    apply information services for automating applied and information processes in the economy;
•    integrate components and services of economic information systems;
•    apply and improve research methods and tools for designing and managing information systems in the economy.

Graduates can work as information technologies manager, specialist in information systems, project manager in the field of information technologies, software development manager, and system analyst in IT companies, information consulting organisations, and enterprises involved in the development and implementation of applied computer science systems.
