DESCRIPTION

The training of a student on the Instrumentation Technology Master's programme provides for high efficiency of development, preparation and production organisation of optical and optoelectronic devices and complexes. The scientific school of instrumentation, formed at the Faculty of Industrial Technologies, Power Engineering and Transport, allows to meet the needs of scientific organisations and industrial enterprises of different profiles in highly qualified personnel. Master's students will have a high professional level of training in the Instrumentation Technology profile. They will have the necessary skills to organize and conduct research and engineering works of theoretical and applied nature, which will distinguish the masters of this profile in the labour market.

AIMS

design activity:
•    analysing the state of the technical research problem, drawing up technical specifications, setting the aim and objectives of designing devices and systems;
•    developing functional and structural schemes of devices;
•    designing and constructing systems, blocks and nodes using computer design means;
•    evaluating the technical efficiency of design solutions, developing technological processes for assembly, commissioning, alignment, and management of blocks, nodes, and components of devices;
•    conducting technical, economic, functional, and cost analysis of the efficiency and optimization of devices and systems under development.

production and technological activity:
•    designing, developing, and implementing technological processes and quality control of devices, systems, and elements;
•    developing and designing appliances, tools and special instruments provided by the technology;
•    managing the installation, setup, testing, and commissioning of the prototype equipment;
•    developing and optimizing programmes for model and natural experimental research to identify device and system quality indices;
•    developing software for designing technological processes and equipment, including for maintenance and repair of devices and systems

research activity:
•     formulating the objective and plan of the research in the area of instrument engineering based on modern information technologies;
•     building mathematical models of research objects and selecting a numerical method to model them, developing the new task solution or choosing a ready-made solution;
•    selecting the optimal technique and developing experimental research programmes, conducting measurements with selection of technical means and results processing;
•    formulating reports, articles, and abstracts based on modern means of editing and printing in accordance with set requirements;
•    defending the priority and novelty of research results using the legal basis for intellectual property protection.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    analyse technical research information on the development of optical equipment, optical and optoelectronic devices and complexes;
•    simulate the operation of optoelectronic devices based on physical processes and phenomena;
•    conduct experimental research to create new optical equipment, optical and optoelectronic devices and complexes;
•    develop a competitive technology for obtaining, storing, and processing information using optical and optoelectronic devices and complexes;
•    develop new technologies of manufacturing optical equipment, optical and optoelectronic devices and complexes.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The graduates are employed at manufacturing and other enterprises as engineers, researchers, scientific workers, etc.
