DESCRIPTION

The programme’s mission is to form an intellectual elite of modern society, i.e. teachers, scientific workers and managers in the field of education and science, highly qualified staff who are able to adapt to complex conditions of increasing information flows, ready to implement new tasks of professional activities in accordance with the requirements of professional standards.

AIMS

training activity:
•    mastering the basics of historical and methodological theories and promising areas of the development of history and methodology for teaching it to form the content of educational programmes (both basic and advanced) at the level of secondary general education and supplementary historical education programmes;
•    organising the process of training and education using technologies that reflect the specifics of the subject field and correspond to the age and psychophysiological characteristics of students, including those with special educational needs;
•    planning learning outcomes in accordance with regulatory documents in education and students’ age characteristics;
•    selecting the subject content, methods, techniques, technologies, including information technology, organisational forms of classes, and diagnostic tools in accordance with planned learning outcomes;
•    planning an educational programme in history (both basic and advanced) at the level of secondary general education and supplementary historical education programmes;
•    studying methods and algorithms of forming an educational environment to achieve personal, subject and meta-subject learning outcomes;
•    analysing the sociocultural environment of the region in order to include it in the educational process;
•    designing the educational process using the potential of the sociocultural environment of the region during classes and extracurricular activities;
•    studying algorithms and technology of the project activities, content, purpose, and application of innovative resources to design basic and supplementary general education programmes;
•    designing innovative content of educational programmes, including the development of digital educational resources.

research activity:
•    studying research features in the field of history and historical education;
•    developing an algorithm and methods for achieving projected levels of professional and personal growth;
•    solving research tasks, taking into account the content and organisational contexts;
•    analysing, systematising, and summarising research results in the field of science and education using a complex of research methods when solving specific research tasks;
•    defining criteria for scientific analysis of learning means, methods, and technologies, as well as electronic resources of the digital educational environment;
•    developing learning means, methods, and technologies, as well as electronic resources of the digital educational environment as part of the innovative area of the implementation of educational process.

organisation and management activity:
•    studying the condition and potential of a controlled system and its macro- and microenvironment using a complex of methods for strategic and operational analysis;
•    identifying developmental patterns and possibilities to apply innovative technologies to improve the efficiency of the managerial mechanism, with the aim of improving the educational system;
•    applying innovative means, methods, techniques, and technologies to improve education quality;
•    analysing and forecasting the risks of the educational environment, and planning complex activities to prevent and overcome them.

cultural and educational activity:
•    assessing the state of the sociocultural environment and selecting tools and resources of shaping cultural demands and needs of various social groups;
•    applying various means, methods, techniques, and technologies to organise a cultural and educational environment and form value and cultural orientations;
•    designing and implementing complex educational programmes focused on the needs of various social groups, taking into account regional and demographic specifics.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    conduct and optimise professional activities in accordance with professional ethics and regulatory legal acts in the field of education;
•    design basic and supplementary educational programmes and elaborate scientific and methodological support for their implementation;
•    organise joint and individual learning and educational activities for students, including those with special educational needs;
•    create and implement conditions and principles for the implementation of moral education for students based on basic national values;
•    develop programmes for monitoring students’ educational results, as well as to develop and implement programmes for overcoming difficulties in education;
•    design and apply efficient psychological, pedagogical and inclusive technologies for professional activities necessary to individualise training, education and development of students, including those with special educational needs;
•    plan and organise interactions between participants in the educational process;
•    design training activities based on special scientific knowledge and research results.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The graduate is able to carry out professional activities in the design and implementation of the educational process in institutions of basic general, secondary general, secondary vocational, and higher education in the field of history, as well as conduct history classes in supplementary vocational programmes. Graduates are also able to organise research activities in the field of methodology for teaching history and subjects related to historical disciplines.
