DESCRIPTION

The programme's mission is to train highly qualified teachers who know modern paradigms of literary education and are able to practically apply the system of scientific knowledge and skills in pedagogical, research, organisational, managerial, cultural and educational fields of activity. The programme aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the methodology of modern literary education, to introduce them to modern principles and techniques of analysing works of fiction, modern strategies for reading and understanding text, as well as the best educational practices. The programme forms students' universal, general professional and professional competencies necessary in the field of teaching, research, organisational and managerial, cultural and educational activities, promotes their personal and professional growth, further self-improvement and self-development.

AIMS

training activity:
•    studying students’ abilities, needs, and achievement in the field of education;
•    conducting training and education in accordance with the requirements of educational standards;
•    applying technologies appropriate to individual characteristics of students, including those with disabilities, and reflecting the specifics of the subject area;
•    organising interaction with organisations of general education and other educational organisations, children’s groups and parents or legal representatives to solve professional activity tasks;
•    shaping an educational environment for ensuring the quality of education, including with the use of information technology;
•    ensuring the protection of the life and health of students during the educational process.

research activity:
•    setting and solving research tasks in the field of science and education;
•    applying research methods in professional activities.

organisation and management activity:
•    developing and implementing research programmes aimed at elaborating professional activities and improving education quality;
•    studying and analysing professional and educational needs and abilities of teachers and designing routes for individual methodological support based on the results obtained;
•    designing an educational environment for supporting philologically talented children and young people;
•    studying, organising and assessing the implementation of the results of methodological support for teachers.

cultural and educational activity:
•    studying and shaping children’s and adults’ needs for cultural and educational activities;
•    organising a cultural environment;
•    developing and implementing cultural and educational programmes for various social groups.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    conduct and optimise professional activities in accordance with professional ethics and regulatory legal acts in the field of education;
•    design basic and supplementary educational programmes and elaborate scientific and methodological support for their implementation;
•    organise joint and individual learning and educational activities for students, including those with special educational needs;
•    create and implement conditions and principles for the implementation of moral education for students based on basic national values;
•    develop programmes for monitoring students’ educational results, as well as to develop and implement programmes for overcoming difficulties in education;
•    design and apply efficient psychological, pedagogical and inclusive technologies for professional activities necessary to individualise training, education and development of students, including those with special educational needs;
•    plan and organise interactions between participants in the educational process;
•    design training activities based on special scientific knowledge and research results;
•    implement educational programmes at various levels in accordance with modern methods and technologies, including information technology, in order to ensure the quality of the educational process;
•    design a developing educational environment for students to achieve personal, subject and meta-subject learning outcomes.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The graduate is able to carry out professional activities in the design and implementation of the educational process in institutions of basic general, secondary general, secondary vocational, and higher education in the field of literature, as well as conduct classes in supplementary vocational programmes. Graduates are also able to organise research activities in the field of methodology for teaching literature.
