DESCRIPTION

The mission of the programme is to train masters with universal, general professional, as well as professional competencies based on the requirements of professional standards, focused on successful professional activity in the development and control of biometric safety of new medicines, biomedical research using living organisms and biological systems at various levels of the organisation, in the field of scientific research using biological systems for economic and medical purposes, in order to protect nature. The programme forms and develops students' initiatives and creative abilities, helps to increase the effectiveness of graduates' professional activities and maximise the realisation of their creative potential.

AIMS

research activity:
•    justifying and planning fundamental and applied research and developments in the fields of medicine and biology;
•    interpreting research results based on modern principles of studying living systems and applying modern biochemical research methods;
•    presenting research results using modern information technology and electronic resources from the digital scientific environment.

project activity:

•    planning and selecting methods for research and experiment implementation according to the level of project research in the fields of medicine and biology;
•    controlling and complying with algorithms for solving project objectives when conducting research and production activities in the fields of medicine and biology.

expert and analytical activity:

•    conducting testing of drugs, initial raw materials, packaging materials, intermediate products, and production environment objects;
•    controlling the implementation of protocol studies and experimental work in pharmaceutical development, requirements for conducting preclinical research and testing processes.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    conduct fundamental, applied and exploratory scientific research and developments in the fields of medicine and biology;
•    analyse, systemise and generalise the results of fundamental, applied and exploratory scientific research and development;
•    apply methodological fundamentals of design in scientific and production activities in the fields of medicine and biology;
•    organise and manage tests (laboratory work) of drugs, initial raw materials, packaging materials, intermediate products, and production environment objects;
•    organise and manage work in pharmaceutical development and preclinical test management, including controlling necessary research and experiments.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The graduate will master a wide range of research and analytical methods of biochemistry, which will allow him to effectively implement his knowledge and skills in the positions of a biologist, research engineer, researcher, head of research and development departments in research, scientific production institutions, medical, diagnostic, biotechnological and pharmaceutical institutions.
