DESCRIPTION

The objectives of the programme are to provide comprehensive and high-quality training of highly qualified, competitive lawyers capable of conducting judicial, prosecutorial, and advocacy protection, solving complex everyday problems related to the restoration of violated rights and freedoms of individuals and legal entities through legal means.

AIMS

law enforcement activity:
•    justifying and making legal decisions as well as implementing legal rules in accordance with professional activities;
•    drawing up legal documents.

advisory activity:

•    providing legal aid and advice on law;
•    conducting legal examination of regulatory acts.

research activity:
•    conducting research on law; 
•    participating in research in the professional field.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    individually prepare expert legal opinions and examine regulatory (individual) legal acts;
•    interpret legal acts, including in cases of legal gaps and collisions;
•    justify the legal position on a case in written or oral form, including during adversarial proceedings;
•    individually draft legal documents and design regulatory (individual) legal acts;
•    apply the rules of substantive and procedural law in court, prosecutorial and legal activities;
•    vindicate infringed rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of individuals, society and the state;
•    provide legal aid and various legal services, provide expert legal reports and advise in various field of legal regulation;
•    conduct research in the field of law enforcement.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

A graduate who has successfully completed the educational programme will have the opportunity to work in courts and the Judicial Department of Russia, holding positions such as court clerk, court session secretary, consultant, judicial assistant, and others. Upon reaching the required length of professional service and meeting the legal requirements, including passing the qualifying examination, the graduate will be eligible to apply for a judgeship. The graduate will also be able to work in prosecutorial bodies, taking up the role of assistant district prosecutor, and upon achieving the necessary years of service and special rank, may advance to higher positions within the prosecution system. The focus of the Master’s programme prepares the graduate to sit the bar exam and become a member of the legal profession. Graduates will be able to work in public service positions within the Investigative Committee of Russia, internal affairs bodies, the Federal Bailiff Service, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Federal Tax Service, and the Customs Service. The competencies gained enable the graduate to work within executive and legislative authorities, non-governmental organisations and institutions, and other professional fields requiring legal qualifications. Additionally, graduates will be prepared for other types of work requiring legal expertise, a developed legal conscience, and legal culture.
