AIMS
• developing core pronunciation and grammar skills;
• building foundations of vocabulary and the stock of natural collocations;
• developing learner skills, including setting goals and self-assessment;
• laying foundations of receptive and productive language skills;
• teaching cross-cultural awareness.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of this course of study, students should be able to:
• demonstrate adequate knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and natural collocations;
• use accurate pronunciation in reading and speaking;
• communicate within the defined topics, participate in team work on projects;
• understand the information from different types of texts: advertisements, short news, magazine articles, blogs, essays;
• apply speech etiquette rules;
• relate facts and phenomena to inter-cultural dimensions.

Day at university. Biological rhythm: late and early risers. Time, days of the week, months, dates.
