Aims:
• to further develop listening and performing skills in a foreign language;
• to build up skills of searching, processing and systematization of relevant professional information.

Learning outcomes:
On successful completion of this course of study students should be able to:

• distinguish and explain peculiarities characteristic for the speech of different regional and social groups;
• analyse texts of different styles and pragmatics;
• demonstrate knowledge of norms of pronunciation and employ it in dramatic reading;
• search efficiently, collect and systemize authentic materials for the learner's needs;
• work effectively with the acquired information and materials while compiling a language educator's portfolio.

CONTENT

Introduction and orientation.

Developing phonemic receptive and productive skills. Norms of dramatic reading. Topics: Personality. Family. Housing. Leisure. Food. Clothes and Fashion. Prose and poetry performing skills.

Making language educator’s portfolio.

Developing internet skills. Using internet catalogues and search engines by language teachers. Classification of various internet media. Online resources for language teachers. Search for specific information and its systemic analysis.

Dealing with educators’ resources and teaching support kits. Workig with monolingual dictionaries, reference books, current media. Methodology and components of teaching support kits for language textbooks.
