Aims:
• to apply theoretical professional knowledge in teaching practice;
• to communicate with children, teenagers, their parents and teachers at school in order to organize efficient teaching and learning process;
• to show a critical understanding of school teachers’ experience.

Learning outcomes:
On successful completion of this course of study students should be able to:
• have a comprehensive knowledge of educational processes, content of language teaching, documents regulating professional activity;
• analyze and choose educational concepts taking into account different social and cultural aspects of the teaching process, integrate knowledge obtained from other subjects into language learning;
• demonstrate a grasp of foreign language teaching theory and methods, psychological development of children and teenagers, their age, gender and social differences, curriculum content in different educational establishments, methodology of pedagogical research into educational problems, modern methods of diagnosing students’ achievements and their professional identity, legal aspects of teaching;
• conduct the pedagogical process with different age and nationality groups and in different types of educational establishments, organize extra-curricular activities;
• write and analyze methodological and scientific papers and reports, edit research results of other teachers, apply the skills of public speech and discussion and take part in methodological conferences, forums, meetings;
• work effectively with participants of the educational process, shape a favourable climate for learning, solve conflicts, manage the activity of the teacher’s assistants and volunteers, get feedback from them;
• implement innovative strategies in education, project technologies, means of developing professional motivation and responsibility.

CONTENT

Preparatory stage
Gathering methodological materials (including multi-media materials) for delivering lessons of foreign languages or extra-curricular classes of foreign languages. Choosing diagnostic methods to evaluate effectiveness of the educational process. Choosing methods, technologies and tools of educational work. Writing an individual plan of the pedagogical practice that reflects the student’s research interests. Projecting development situations that take into account the pupils’ age and knowledge).

Getting around the educational establishment, getting to know foreign language teachers’ experience, visiting other teachers’ lessons and analyzing them
Identifying general characteristics of the pupils in the class. Analyzing the school as a pedagogical system. Reviewing teaching programmes and materials according to the level of study. Choosing materials according to the pupils’ communication experience and integrative links of the subject. Diagnosing the pupils’ communication skills. Monitoring the situations of intellectual reflection at the lessons.

Practical stage
Getting to know the work of foreign language teachers, the plan of their work. Getting to know the work of the school psychologist and the psychological characteristic of the class. Working with school documentation (class register, the pupils' personal data sheets, their health records and diaries, plan for educational work, etc.). Planning pedagogical activity as a teacher and a class supervisor. Developing lesson plans, their content, types of teacher and students activity, communicative aim of the lesson and its stages. Analyzing textbooks and additional literature. Choosing forms, methods and tools of organizing learning activity according to the age characteristics of the pupils. Preparing and delivering English, German and French lessons, discussing and analyzing the lessons. Developing a plan for an extra-curricular event and a homeroom. Writing characteristics of the class. Visiting foreign language lessons (at least three lessons), discussing and analyzing the lessons. Gathering tests.

Analytical stage
Summarizing the school experience. Organizing and conducting expert seminar. Preparing a report on the pedagogical practice. Self-analysis. Self-evaluating the skill of projecting situations for developing intellectual reflection. Preparing a reflexive essay.
