DESCRIPTION

The aims of the programme are to ensure comprehensive and high-quality training of highly qualified, competitive specialists capable of addressing complex everyday challenges in strengthening legality and law and order, administering justice, and restoring the violated rights and freedoms of individuals and legal entities through legal means; to create conditions for students to acquire theoretical knowledge of law, master legislation, and gain practical legal skills necessary for prosecutorial activities; and to foster personal qualities in students based on the perception of spiritual, moral, and sociocultural values, enhancing their level of legal culture and intolerance towards corruption.

AIMS

rule-making activity:
•    elaborating regulatory act.

law enforcement activity:
•    justifying and making legal decisions, as well as conducting activities related to the implementation of legal rules in accordance with professional activities;
•    drafting legal documents;
•    implement prosecutorial supervision of law enforcement actions;
•    ensuring lawfulness, law and order, and security for individuals, society, and the state;
•    preventing, supressing, detecting, disclosing and investigating offences, taking measures to vindicate infringed rights in a timely manner;
•    detecting causes and conditions of committed offences based on the analysis and summarisation of judicial and prosecutorial expertise, as well as developing proposals for preventing and eliminating offences.

rights protection activity:
•    defending the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and legal entities;
•    defending the rights and legitimate interests of the Russian Federation, its territorial subjects and municipal entities;
•    interacting with law enforcement institutions of civil society when implementing professional activities.

organisation and management activity:
•    performing organisation and management functions in accordance with professional activities;
•    organising the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    formulate proposals for adjusting, repealing or adopting of laws and other regulatory acts in order to improve the existing legislation;
•    execute criminal prosecution in accordance with their powers and the criminal procedural legislation of the Russian Federation;
•    participate in case review by courts of general jurisdiction and arbitration courts, appeal and challenge court judgements, sentences, rulings and decisions contrary to the law;
•    execute prosecutorial supervision to ensure compliance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation and enforcement of laws on the territory of the Russian Federation;
•    monitor human rights and freedoms;
•    coordinate the activities of law enforcement agencies aimed at crime fighting;
•    perform federal public service in the bodies and organisations of the prosecutor’s office.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

A graduate who has successfully completed the educational program will have the opportunity to carry out official activities in the prosecutor's office and hold the position of assistant district prosecutor. Upon reaching the required length of service and a special title, a graduate of the educational program will be able to hold senior positions in the prosecutor's office system. A graduate of the educational program will be able to carry out official and labour activities in positions of the state civil service in the prosecutor's office, in the units of the Investigative Committee of Russia, law enforcement agencies, the Federal Bailiff Service, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Federal Tax and Customs Services. Graduates' qualifications allow them to carry out activities in the field of providing legal assistance to the public. Graduates can work as lawyers and notaries, provided they gain professional experience as a lawyer and pass a qualifying exam.
