DESCRIPTION

 

The programme provides Bachelor’s degree students with deep theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of applied mathematics, programming and computer technologies. Great attention is paid to such modern areas of study as artificial intelligence, artificial neural networks, and data mining. Practical training of students in different types of programming and solving applied tasks is of huge importance.

 

AIMS

 

research activity:
•    studying information systems by means of mathematical forecasting and system analysis;
•    studying large systems with the help of modern methods of powerful computational technologies, application of modern supercomputers in the conducted research;
•    developing mathematical models, algorithms, methods, software, and tools on the theme of research projects;

project, research and development activity:
•    using mathematical methods of simulating information and simulation models on the theme of research applied tasks and R&D projects;
•    researching automated systems and information processing tools, administration tools and methods of computer network safety;
•    developing computer networks software and infoware, automated systems of computational complexes, services, operation systems and distributed data bases;
•    researching and developing algorithms, computational models and data models for implementing elements of new (or known) services of information technologies systems;
•    developing architecture, algorithmic and programme decisions of systems and applied software;
•    studying and developing programming languages, algorithms, libraries and programme packages, products of systems and applied software;
•    studying and developing systems of digital image processing, tools of computer graphics, multimedia and automated design;
•    developing and using tools, automated systems in research and practice.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
•    use fundamental knowledge in natural sciences, mathematics and informatics, major facts, concepts, theoretical principles, connected with applied mathematics and informatics;
•    develop algorithmic and programme decisions in the sphere of systems and applied programming, mathematical, information and simulation models, create information resources of global networks, educational content, applied databases, tests and tools for testing systems against standards and original requirements; 
•    solve standard tasks of professional activity on the basis of information and bibliographic culture with the use of information and communication technologies and taking into account basic requirements of information safety;
•    gather, process and interpret data of modern research necessary for making conclusions on the relevant research;
•    understand, improve and apply modern mathematical tools;
•    develop and apply algorithmic and programme decisions in the sphere of systems and applied software;
•    form judgements on significance and consequences of their professional activity taking into account social, professional and ethical aspects;
•    formalize and make algorithms of the given tasks;
•    develop a programme code with the use of programming languages, define and manipulate data; 
•    work as a member of research and production team and solve tasks of professional activity.

 

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

 

Graduates of System Programming and Computer Technologies bachelor programme can be employed in research, project and production enterprises. They can carry on studying and take a post-graduate course.
