DESCRIPTION

 

The Master’s degree programme qualifies specialists who are engaged in review and research activity in law making and law enforcement with Russian and European law. The programme combines studying new branches of Russian law from the perspective of their advancement and exploring European law and law of the EU member-states. It provides the opportunity to conduct comparative legal and political analysis.

The programme is of comprehensive nature, i.e. it simultaneously examines civil law, criminal law and constitutional law. It appeals not only to Bachelors and Specialists in Law, but also to those willing to obtain second university degree. It may attract specialists in history, economics, and linguistics.

Forms of in-class activity: lectures, practical classes, review sessions, and individual work.

 

AIMS

 

•    issuing, classifying and adopting laws, regulations and standards;
•    shaping and improving legal policy;
•    maintaining legal education and promoting legal awareness among the population;
•    reviewing Russian and European law;
•    fostering legal cooperation with foreign partners.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:

•    develop and explore laws, regulations, standards and other legal documents;
•    interpret, introduce and enforce laws, regulations, standards and other legal documents;
•    review the drafts of laws, regulations and standards for identifying and eliminating reasons and conditions causing corruption;
•    issue legal opinions and recommendation within specific branches of law;
•    make decisions and perform legal actions in strict accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation and the European Union;
•    deliver legal disciplines based on up-to-date theoretical knowledge and using modern methodological approaches;
•    conduct research in law policy, comparative legal studies and European law.

 

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

 

Programme graduates are employed in state authorities and business institutions. They may conduct expert legal reviews within Russian and European law. They have enough theoretical knowledge and practical skills for rapid career development, engagement in policy making and state administration.
